Project: Provide Instrumentation Detection Capability and Data Analysis for Westinghouse Electric Corporation at the Hematite facility

Description:

ChesNuc performed a study for Westinghouse to identify the types of radiation detectors and survey methods that could best be used to perform the final status soil surveys at the Hematite facility, where enriched uranium and technetium may have been released. The results were presented in a paper entitled “Evaluating Methods for Performing Final Status Surveys for Land Areas at the Hematite Facility.” ChesNuc performed subsequent field measurements in support of the Decommissioning Plan to demonstrate instrument characteristics relative to established Derived Concentration Guideline Levels (DCGLs) and background radiation levels. ChesNuc used its proprietary MARSS technology to acquire and configure survey and instrument data.
